Be prepared for class everyday by bringing completed homework, 2 sharpened pencils, covered textbook, workbook, notebook, and assignment book. Go to assigned seat, write hw in the assignment book, complete the timed warm-up. Be respectful toward each other and the instructors. (no loud voices, teasing, inappropriate/offensive language will be tolerated.) Respect school property, especially assigned calculators. Keep all objects and body parts to yourselves at all times. No eating in class (no gum, candy, etc.) unless given permission by the teacher. Rewards for following procedures are: SUCCESS in math Free night from homework Extended privileges (computer lab, math puzzles, games, etc.) Consequences for not following procedures are: Homework notices sent home/and/or after school/lunch detention Letters/e-mails sent to parent/guardian and after school detention Office referral Grading Policy: Grades for the marking period are determined by averaging tests, quizzes, homework, and notebook. Tests count as four quiz grades. Progress reports will be sent home as necessary after the first marking period. Any test or quiz grade below a 60 must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the teacher. Homework Policy: Homework is graded. Lack of effort results in a zero and a detention. It must be complete and is due the following school day. Work missed due to an excused absence must be completed and turned in two days after return. Assignments are posted both in the classroom and on the school website. Homework must be done in pencil and work shown for credit unless otherwise stated. Notebook Policy: Students are required to take notes daily. Use a 3-ring binder with sections designated for daily warm-up, homework, notes, tests/quizzes, etc. Notebook checks are conducted each marking period and count as a quiz grade. Behavior Policy: Appropriate behavior is expected from all students. Learning cannot be effective if behavior interferes with the educational process. Math requires focus. Respect and courtesy for classmates and staff are always expected. Extra Help: The teacher is available for extra help after school by request and D block all days except Days 1 and 4. Students need to schedule after school help sessions at least one day ahead. Homework Club: Beginning 10/22 students will meet in room 212 on Mondays and in room 211 on Wednesdays. Prior to this, Mondays were with Ms. Hethcoat and Wednesdays with Ms. Berthelette. We are switching days to accommodate Ms. Hethcoat's schedule. In-School Suspension: When a student is in ISS, classroom time must be made up after school. Students miss valuable instruction when they are in ISS. It will be necessary for students to attend after school sessions so they don't fall behind the rest of the class. Students can avoid ISS by following the rules stated in the handbook. Absences: Frequent or extended absences may cause a student to fall behind. Students should plan to stay after school to catch up on missed instruction. |
