WEEK of  1/5/09

  Welcome Parents: 
       
    Finally, all of the computer problems have been fixed. Welcome back,we will be focusing on the State Science standards for 7th and 8th grade as they pertain to the CMT. Each grade will have specific lessons geared toward getting our children ready for the test in 8th grade. 8th grade students will focus on Life Science with lessons on the plant and animal kingdom and the human body. 8th grade students will focus on Earth Science and some of the topics will include Chemistry,Physics,and Space. We will have technology integrated into the lessons as often as possible (both in the room and out). If you have any question at all please email me at  anytime.

        Each grade will work on projects throughout the year. None of these projects should cost you any money! If you have any questions about these projects please contact me via email or phone call. These projects are fun and enjoyable for the students.

  Grading Policy for 7th and 8th grade

1. Tests and Quizzes-------40-50%
2. Lab Reports--------------20-30%
3. Projects--------------------15-25%
4. Classwork/Homework--5-10%

    ****Extra help by appointment or on Wednesday's afterschool or during any available D Block study hall. There will be a study review the day before every major test.  

Grade Seven: 

     Welcome back, this week we will begin our study of cells both plant and animal. Every second or third day of notes there will be a quiz to keep the information current.

Grade Eight:

      Welcome back, this week we will continue with the study of rocks and minerals. We will have a lab on Tuesday which will be due on Wednesday. Our focus will then shift towards the up-coming CMT's which are 8 weeks away.
