PE Curriculum for Term 2 (10
/14/08-11/25/08):

- Fitness Testing * Students will complete the
curl-up, push-up and flexibility portion of the fitness test on Monday,
November 24th. Students will have the opportunity to complete
extra credit this week. All extra-credit and the 6th grade
Cooperative Game Sheet are due by Tueday, Nov. 25th.
Students will receive a hand-out (study guide) for each
unit and the
tests are
announced at least one day in advance. The first unit for the 6th
graders does not involve
a written test but rather a Cooperative Game Handout involving a home
assignment.
This optional home assignment is due at the end of their term.
The Connecticut Fitness Test
will
be administered to the students during their first term, and we
continue to
work on fitness areas in class during warm-ups. Students are encouraged
to
practice the four components of the fitness test at home: sit and
reach(flexibility),
push-ups (upper body strength), crunches (abdominal strength and
endurance)
and the one mile run (cardiovascular endurance).
*Extra credit: Students
will
be given the opportunity to improve their grade in Physical Education
by
doing an extra-credit worksheet. They are allowed to do up to 5
worksheets
and each worksheet is worth 2% . Each worksheet done properly
will
add 2 points to their final grade. Worksheets are available on
the PE web page or any
time at school. They are due by the end of the term.
