Welcome to 8th grade!  Your first assignment in U.S. History is to complete an artifact presentation.  It is real easy and I will model one for you, so you’ll know just what to do.  Artifact presentations will be done in class on Tuesday 9/2 & Wednesday 9/3 (if needed).

Here is what you will need:

1) Your favorite book (or a favorite book).  Points will be deducted if you do not have a copy of the book to present.

2) A piece of your own writing… something you’ve authored, even if it was a poem you wrote in kindergarten  (you may read your piece of writing to the class if you wish, but it is not required).

3 & 4) Two artifacts that tell me something about who you are… your interests, your hobbies, your family etc…

5) Tell the class which person in American history you’d most like to meet and why…this person does not have to be currently living.

Thursday- *Artifact presentation due Tuesday 9/2/08
                   *Signed S.S. forms due back Wednesday 9/3/08
                   *Books MUST be covered by Friday 9/5/08

Friday-
* Finish History Hunt
              * Skim Chapter 1
