We have started a study of the Native Americans of the United States. The first group we studied was the Eastern Woodland People. We will also be studying the Plains People, the Native Americans of the Southwest and West, and the people of the Northwest and Arctic. We will take a field trip to the Pequot Museum to learn more about the Native Americans of Connecticut and their ways of life. We will then compare and contrast their ways with the ways of Native Americans in other parts of the country. Our unit will end with a project that will focus on a Native American group of the students' choice.
