CLASSROOM AND STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Expectations:  In an attempt to create a positive learning environment, the following classroom rules have been instituted:

ü  Respect.  There will be mutual respect among everyone at all times.  Disrespect will not be tolerated.

ü  Prepared.  All students must come prepared to class each day with his/her covered book, notebook, and writing utensil. 

ü  Participate.  Students should come to class with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Class participation is mandatory.

ü  Language.  Appropriate language must be used at all times.  Use of foul or unacceptable language will result in disciplinary action.

ü  Punctuality.  Students are expected to be seated and ready to learn when the bell rings.  Points will be deducted from the student’s final average for unexcused tardiness to class.

 

General Rules:

ü  Attendance.  Refer to Student Handbook for school policy on tardiness and absenteeism.

ü  Homework.  Homework will be assigned regularly (about four times per week).  It is often graded.  Late homework will not be accepted, except in the case of an excused absence.

ü  Notebook.  Each student is required to keep a notebook.  The notebook will be collected and periodically checked for completeness.

ü  Tests and Quizzes.  Tests will be announced at least two days prior, whereas, quizzes may or may not be announced.

ü  Labs.  Lab investigations will be performed on a regular basis. Lab reports must be completed in official lab format (see attached handout).  Lab reports are generally due one week after the lab is performed and must be typed. 

ü  Projects.  Projects will be assigned periodically and will vary in format.  Students will be informed of the graded value of each particular project beforehand.

ü  Late Work.  Assignments are due at the beginning of the class period.  Late work will not be accepted after the due date, unless in the case of an excused absence.  Computer (printer) problems are not an excuse for late work.

ü  Additional Help.  Before or after school help is always available at mutually arranged times.  Students must take the initiative to ask for help.  Never hesitate to ask for extra help!

ü  Seating.  There will be assigned seating in this class.  Seats may be changed or reassigned throughout the year at the Teacher’s discretion.
