Social
Studies
Welcome to 6th grade social studies! This class explores
world cultures and geographic regions beginning with the rise and
spread of civilizations. In addition to completing various projects
throughout the year, you will also engage in several technology-based
activities that will enhance you learning experience. After
completing this course, I believe you will have a stronger appreciation
for and understanding of our world.
Notebook:
You are required to keep a notebook for this class. It is your
responsibility to bring this notebook to class each day. You will
also receive several handouts and worksheets that you will need to keep
track of, so I would suggest having a social studies folder to hold
these materials.

Miss
Langevin’s Homework Policy
Homework is an important part of the learning experience. It is
intended to reinforce and expand on concepts discussed in
class.
The following is my classroom homework policy. Please read and
sign below stating that you understand the consequences for incomplete
homework. Of course, in the case of an excused student absence,
the student will be given extra time to complete assignments without
penalty.
1. If the student comes to class without his/her homework a “Homework
Notice” will immediately be sent home to be signed. The student
must then complete this missing work by the following school day and
return it for partial credit.
2. If the student does not have the notice signed OR the missing work
completed for the next day, he/she will receive a detention and NO
CREDIT for the assignment.
3. If a student consistently fails to complete homework, return
notices, or serve detention, a phone call will be made home to discuss
the student behavior and create a plan to help him/her succeed in the
area of homework.
Classroom
Behavior
As in all classes, it is expected that each student behaves in a proper
manner and follows all classroom rules and procedures. Always try
to keep a positive attitude and show respect for your teachers and
classmates. If we all work together we will have a great year!
Parents/
Guardians
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns
you may have about your child throughout the course of the school year.
I am looking forward to working with you. Together we can make a
difference in your child's educational experiences.
Instructional
