Web Development

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students will discover how to create/edit web pages using Notepad and
basic HTML code. Some of the topics covered will be: formatting text,
creating/ editing images, creating links, tables, frames, and style
sheets. Students will also use Macromedia Studio MX to create web pages
"on the fly," animation, and movie clips, using Dreamweaver MX, Flash
MX, Freehand 10, and Fireworks MX. Other software that may will be
available includes: Photoshop and CorelDRAW.
Class assignments will consist of individual assignments or group
projects.
STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR:
1. Students are expected to sit at their assigned computer for the
start of the class. Attendance will also be taken at this time.
2. Computers will not be accessed until the assignments and directions
are given.
3. If you wish to speak, raise your hand and wait to be
recognized. If the public address system is on, you are required
to remain quiet.
4. Passes will be given from class with discretion. Abuse or
misuse of a pass will result in a detention.
5. Students will work independently unless directed otherwise by the
instructor.
6. Anything that is NOT your original work will result in loss of
credit.
7. Notebooks, workbooks and textbooks will be inspected with or without
announcement.
8. Assignments meant for homework are to be done as such; work not
completed for the next day’s class will result in a zero.
REQUIRED MATERIALS:
Students must have the following at each and every class session:
course textbook, a sharpened pencil, a black or blue pen, eraser, and a
notebook/binder.

GRADING:
Student’s grades are based on the following:
1. Classroom Assignments and Quizzes
80%
2. Notebook/Computer Upkeep/Responsibility
15%
3. Attendance/Participation
5%
TOTAL
100%
In the event of absence or extenuating circumstances, the student must
make the work up within (5) days. Any work not completed in a
timely manner will result in a lower grade.
CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE:
You will be asked to stop disruptive behavior once. Two detentions will be issued if the
behavior continues. In addition, a phone call will be made
to your parent/guardian so that they are aware of your behavior and the
action taken.
