Metal I
Course
Description: This a first year course in beginning metals is designed for the
student who has never had a course in metals. The course involves developing
safe work habits using various hand tools, hand operated processes
, and hand operated machines used in the fabrication of sheet metal
projects. The students will learn how to use measuring tools and layout work necessary to fabricate sheet metal
projects. The students will learn and practice
skill development on concepts such as cutting, forming , shaping, and
fastening methods involving sheet metal fabrication or related
equipment theory or application. Fastening methods will include soldering,
brazing and welding on an introductory level used in sheet metal fabrication.Open to students in grades 9-12. Prerequisites :none.Recommend
taking Mechanical
Drawing I at the same time.
11/17/08 Homework This week is Chapter 3 . Do the unit
sheet and tuern in on Friday 11/21.
Project work every day , each student in class is doing a scoop or dust pan, by
laying out the work on the metal,cutting the metal,
bending the metal, and fastening the metal by the process recommended.
