STAFFORD HIGH SCHOOL
MISSION
STATEMENT
Dear
Parent or Guardian,
The second semester has begun! I trust that my recent letter
to your
home will prove to have been helpful once the results from the mid-year
exams are
published on our report cards, which will be released on Friday,
February 1,
2008. If you find that your son/daughter need extra help for
Quarter III,
consider Saturday School. You can receive more information and an
application from guidance - just call
684-4233, extension 3018.
By now, you are probably aware that, according to U.S. News and World Report, Stafford
High School is ranked among the nation's top high schools, according to
our recent bronze
medal
distinction. You should know that Stafford High School was the
only public
high school in Tolland County to win such an award. This honor follows
not only
Stafford High School's being ranked a few years ago by a University of
Connecticut economic researcher as the number three school in
Connecticut for
quality education for the dollar, but also being identified last year
as achieving the CAPT Super High Honor Roll, as published in our local
newspapers. Stafford High School is an institution on the
rise,
with our participation on the SAT up to 80%, while having 90% of our
graduates enrolling
in college after high school!
The Renovate as New Project is nearing completion. Our new
library/media
center and gymnasium are sights to behold, while the new facilities for
visual
art, health, pupil services, technical education, music, and drama are
first
class! I look forward to showing you around during
Parent/Teacher
Conference Night on Thursday, March 6, 2008, so save the date, please.
We continue to make great progress with our preparations for the
NEAS&C
evaluation, which will take place from Sunday, May 4, 2008 to
Wednesday, May
7, 2008. We look forward to sharing all of our excitement and
successes
with the visiting team, while learning how we can best continue to
improve.
I hope that your son/daughter will take advantage of the new semester
to
continue to achieve and/or rededicate himself/herself to academic
excellence
through our PRIDE
mission.
Sincerely,
Francis T. Kennedy
