I am pleased to have an opportunity to give kudos to some of the many students, staff members, and parents who are doing wonderful things at Stafford High School.
OCTOBER KUDOS GO TO:
SCHOOL-WIDE STUDENT RECOGNITIONS:
¦ Stafford High School was well represented at the Fall Festival by each of the classes.
The Freshmen were very busy hosting children games while the Sophomores were
selling their beach towels. The Juniors sold refreshing lemonade to all of the thirsty
festival goers while the Seniors were very busy painting faces and fingernails. Other
familiar faces there were Mr. Campbell and Mr. Shearer. Thank you for all of your
involvement in our community.
■ SHS Band and Color Guard for representing SHS so well at the Big E. We never take
our kids anywhere that we don’t get compliments galore. They sure do make us
proud! The Madrigals were at hand at the Fall Final at Stafford Speedway to sing the
National Anthem. The Band as well as the choir entertained at the Fall Festival.
■ CONGRATULATIONS TO: Steven Bachiochi, Scott Bradrick, Katherine Bradway,
Kahleen Bradway, Emma Boadhurst, Eric Bulakites, Kathryn Burnham, Dallas DeMichael,
Joshua Estey, Taylor Everett, Lindsay Jacobsen, Julia Luksha, Emily Maynard, and Ryan West. These fourteen students were recognized as being among other Connecticut High School students that performed at the Advanced level on all four parts of the 2007 Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) subtests.
PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE:
To all of our volunteer groups that work so hard throughout the year. The Music Boosters had a great raffle at the Fall Festival while PIE was very busy selling pie. The Drama Boosters also participated at the Fall Festival. The Athletic Boosters are very busy during the season selling food at their food booth on the football field. They just ended the season volunteering at a booth at Stafford Motor Speedway in which they get a share of the profits. The Athletic Boosters also hosted a very successful golf tournament at the Hampden Country Club in which our own Richard Grace, Gary Shearer, Louie Harris, John O’Keefe, and Bob Campbell were there to represent our school. Lets just say that the faculty team outplayed the administrative team! The money earned from this event will go back directly to the school.
¦ Jamie Donnelly, Fran Kennedy and Laurie Dillon went on a recent NEASC visitation.
■ The Science department reports that they are able to enhance the quality and quantity
of labs since they each have their own lab rooms.
■ Library Media Specialists Donna Norige and Kathy Popadin are aggressively teaching
data bases in classes and circulating a small collection of new fiction to English classes.
They are looking forward to the opening of the new media center.
■ The history department will be attending the Pequot Indian Museum on Friday.
GOOD LUCK:
¦ To all of the participants in the Fall Coffee House under the direction of Mrs. Dillon on
October 22nd. The Powder Puff Game will be held on October 24th. Come cheer on
teams.
■ To all of our sport teams. Stafford had a victorious night on September 21st with 3
wins!!!!
