PIE Minutes from September 4, 2007

Those in attendance: Laurie Dillon, Megan Butler, Dorine Andresen, Mike Andresen, Katie Bradway, Lisa Bradway, Denise Jennings, Fran Kennedy, Emily Andresen, Shirley Allard

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM.

  1. Welcome
    1. Members introduced
  2. Update- Mr. Kennedy
    1. Building progress
      1. Downstairs has been completely redone
      2. Academic corridor is complete
      3. Each teacher now has their own classroom
      4. Expected to be nearly finished in October:
        1. Library media center
        2. Gymnasium entirely refurbished
        3. Auditorium
        4. New vocal/choral room
        5. New band room
      5. Parking has been more than doubled
      6. The room that was formerly 121 will eventually be a computer lab
      7. Expected to be finished in December
        1. Pupil services center in the place of the former library
      8. There will be three computer labs, including a graphics lab
  3. Mentoring Program: Grades 9-12
    1. Time will be given every other Friday for teachers to connect with their students
    2. A manual has been written with grade by grade activities
      1. Is in the process of copying
      2. Will eventually be distributed to teachers
  4. Homecoming Week
    1. Will be the week of October 22-26
      1. Includes a dance, a pep rally and spirit week
  5. Fall Festival
    1. Being held Saturday, September 29
    2. Have a booth to raise visibility
      1. Mrs. Andresen will look into pies to sell as well as a tablecloth to use
      2. Mrs. Bradway will do two pie-related games
      3. Mrs. Dillon will do paper goods (napkins, paper plates, forks)
  6. Movie Night
    1. Held downstairs in Room 7
    2. Date to be determined
  7. Book Fair
    1. Date to be determined
      1. Date needed by October 2
      2. Penciled in to start the weekend of the Madrigal Feaste
    2. Will be held in the library
    3. Students put in six hours of work receive $50 in books.
    4. Books are half-priced
  8. Open House: October 4, 2007

      1. Selling buttons as a badge for having paid
      2. Donate to PIE or another charity.

    1. A design a logo for PIE contest
      1. The Andresens will work work on specifics of it
      2. Will be high school only
