WHAT IS E.I.P.?

The Early Intervention Program is a group of educators meeting on a regular basis for the purpose of assisting students experiencing difficulties in school.  The team collaborates with classroom teachers to develop intervention strategies to help children be successful in school. back

WHO IS ON E.I.P.?

E.I.P. is a support team comprised of teachers, support staff and the school principal, who have participated in an extensive, ongoing statewide training program.back

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THIS PROGRAM?

Any student, who is not meeting success in the classroom academically, behaviorally, or socially is eligible for the program.back

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?

The teacher identifies areas of concern, notifies parents and requests E.I.P. assistance.

An E.I.P. member forms a partnership with a classroom teacher to clarify the concerns, collect data and present an overview of the problem to the team.

The team meets to analyze data, set goals, and develop intervention.

An E.I.P. member assists the teacher in monitoring the student’s progress.

The teacher meets with the team to review progress, and to continue to modify interventions, close successful cases, or seek additional support, if necessary.back

HOW DO PARENTS BECOME INVOLVED IN THIS PROCESS?

Close parental contact is maintained through the entire process.  Parents are encouraged to discuss concerns about their child with his/her teacher.  You know your child best, and your participation is important in following through with home/school interventions, which are planned during our conferences.back

WHY DO WE HAVE THIS PROGRAM AT WEST STAFFORD SCHOOL?

E.I.P. was created to prevent problems from becoming unmanageable in the classroom by working with students when difficulties first arise.  It is this collaborative effort of parents, teachers, and students that contribute to happy and successful learners.back

WHO BENEFITS FROM THIS PROCESS?

Children benefit by having many instructional opportunities at their level.  Parents benefit by knowing that teachers are working together to help their child succeed and by having increased communication with school personnel.  Teachers benefit by sharing ideas and enhancing their ability to meet the needs of all children.back
