• Use a variety
of strategies to decode text and make meaning.
• Recognize 90%
of sight vocabulary based on 1st grade high frequency words.
• Identify title,
author, illustrator, title page, page number, and table of contents.
• Build vocabulary
comprehension through formal and informal study.
• Alphabetize to
the first letter.
• Write upper and
lower case letters of the alphabet using correct D’Nealian letter formation.
• Write a complete
sentence using a combination of invented and conventional spelling.
• Write a simple
story with a beginning, middle and end.
• Identify sentence
units in print:
- Beginning capitalization
- Nouns
- Verbs
- Adjectives
- End punctuation
• Share writing with appropriate
audiences.
• Demonstrate ability
in reading speaking, and writing through a variety of forms or experiences.
• Respond to an
audio/visual presentation when given a specific purpose.
• Respond to various
selections from a chosen children’s author, fiction and non-fiction books,
