Principal's Message
Welcome to the West Stafford School community!

West Stafford School provides a comprehensive and personalized educational beginning for children. A sense of caring and a quest for learning characterize the culture of our school community. A formal educational program for students in pre-kindergarten through grade one, a childcare program, Head Start and School Readiness programs, and our Family Resource Center parent and child activities keep our halls buzzing from early morning until evening on most days.

     At our school, we believe that success for our students is built upon collaboration as an educational team and partnership with our families. Throughout the year, the professional staff and the principal collect and analyze data about student performance in order to continually monitor and adjust our program. Recent academic school wide improvement goals have focused on early reading success. In addition, our talented and dedicated staff members work together to provide engaging, challenging, and differentiated learning experiences in all areas to meet individual needs.

     We believe that students learn best in a safe and joyful atmosphere where cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control are valued and celebrated.  To foster this environment, we bring academic and social learning together throughout the day through the use of the Responsive Classroom framework. This includes many opportunities for students to engage in respectful and caring social interaction, active learning, inquiry and problem solving, and making choices.

     Parent-teacher collaboration is at the heart of our school. We welcome parents’ input and insight. We strive to keep parents informed about student progress and ways to support learning at home through newsletters, school events, and teacher/parent communication. Family members volunteer in classrooms as readers, classroom helpers, and chaperones.  Parents and community members are encouraged to be a part of our school through PTO and a host of other school-based activities.
