A tour of the classroom

Block Area

Building with blocks helps develop young children's eye hand coordination, visual perception, and increases student's math/science concepts. Working in this area builds self confidence in children and provides opportunities for creativity and dramatic play.

Kitchen Area

Dramatic play fosters emotional development as children work through fears and worries in a safe context. Social skills are promoted as children communicate and negotiate their roles and actions.

Reading Area

Children have the opportunity to slowly leaf through good books that have been read to them, examine print on the page, and "read" to someone else. These experiences create a love of books that help children become eager and eventually proficient readers.

Art Center

As they draw, paint, and sculpt, children think creatively, make decisions, and solve problems. Student's fine motor skills are developed naturally through the manipulation of materials.

Math shelf

These fun activities help improve fine motor and problem solving skills. Math concepts such as counting, patterning, and sorting are practiced. In this area we also facilitate the development of many more social and cognitive skills through game playing.

Science Shelf

Many discoveries occur in our science area. Materials are rotated to reflect the current theme or season. Children are encouraged to bring in interesting items to share in this area.
