Welcome to Kindergarten
Room 2

Mrs. Claire Niederwerfer

Things Your Child Will Need:

Large backpack to hold belongings. Please check daily for important notices.  Please try to buy one with a zip, not a drawstring, as the ones with a drawstring and snap are hard for the children to manage.

Lunch box or bag to keep snack organized

Name labels on all belongings – coat, hat, backpack, mittens, boots, etc.

They will not need to bring pencils or crayons.

Helpful Hints

Bus tags will be tied to your child’s backpack. Please be sure that your child’s bus tag remains tied to the backpack for the first 2 – 3 weeks of school. This ensures that your child gets on the correct bus.

If there are any bus changes, or you are picking up your child from school, you must send a note or call the school.  Otherwise your child will be sent home on the bus to their usual stop.

If your child will be out or is absent, please call the school and send a note the day they return.

Snack time is limited to 15 minutes.  Please send a healthy snack and drink daily for your child.  Afternoon children please bring a lunch /snack.    If you wish your child to purchase milk to drink at snack time, send in the money on Mondays in an envelope with your child’s name on it.  Please send enough milk money for the whole week.  Milk is 50¢ in kindergarten or $2.50 for the week.

Birthdays- We will provide a birthday hat and card for your child and sing happy birthday.  Stafford Schools are committed to the federal standards of healthy foods, so birthday treats are not allowed to be brought into school.

When you are helping your child write his/her name, be sure to use a capital letter for the first letter only – all the others should be lower case.

Example:   Trevor         not        TREVOR

(It is difficult to change their habits when they get to school!)

You will be receiving a letter with a letter formation chart.  We are using the D’Nealian style of writing.

Newsletters and Homework  and Mail Folders

Please look for newsletters which will inform you of our themes, activities and special events.  Information about homework will be given with the first assignment.  Mail  Folders will be used for all home/school communications.  Please  check and return to school daily.

Special Schedules

Children will be receiving a notice listing weekly specials. Please post this on the refrigerator or another prominent position.
